This Season Go Beyond The Hurt and Grow

11.26.17 | Think About It! | by Assistant Pastor Ernestine Gold-Livingston

Memories are good to have, but don't let them lead you down a path that takes your focus off your purpose.

This Season Go Beyond The Hurt and Grow
This season some of us may be missing friends and loved ones who was with us this time last year.
Christians understand that this is not the end and we will see those loved ones that received Christ again.
But that still doesn’t stop the tears of remembrance or feelings of emptiness.
It’s ok to take time to remember but don’t allow hurt and pain to plunge you into depths of despair.
Don’t let cascades of sorrow impede you from performing daily activities and stop you from being there for others who depend on you.
Instead, reflect on the good times, the rich memories you had with your loved ones.
Yes, there will be a void because no one can ever replace the one you lost, but know that you are so much richer for having them in your life.
The pain comes in missing them.
The sadness comes in not having them in your presence.
Yes, experience all of these emotions.
    And then…………. LET GO.
Let all of those precious, invaluable, and cherished memories spur you on to move forward.
Your loved ones certainly would not want you to stay depressed but they would want you to live your life and be a blessing to others as they were to you.
Get back to focusing on your purpose in this world.
Focus on why YOU exist and what you have been created to do.
Focus on how you have been shaped as a person for having benefitted from the lives of others.
The Bible says…..The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof; the world and they that dwell therein.
We were created BY God FOR God and belong TO God.
Praise Him for your very existence and then use what you have learned from those who have gone on for those who are still here.
Be that blessing, be that lightening rod, be that inspiration to someone else.
And by doing so, you will honor the memory of those who have gone on.
Ask Jesus to come into your heart today. Only He can heal the broken heart.
(Ps. 34:18- The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Ps. 147:3- He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.)
